A. EVENT OUTLINE

5rd APT JSO Contents
Purpose • To improve and globalize informal education for gifted in science through sharing ideas of accumulated knowledge and programs among the APT nations.
• To encourage and challenge gifted students to excel in the field of science and technology.
• To stimulate students' intellectual curiosity through various experiences and experiments.
• To Foster friendship and networking among gifted students in the APT region.
• To motivate students to pursue careers in science and technology.
Theme "Renewable Energy for Life"
Date 10-15 July, 2017
Venue Conference Hall : FPT University, Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, Hanoi, Vietnam
Lab activities and Teacher' workshop: University of Science and Technology of Hanoi
Accomodation: Viettel Building, Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, Hanoi, Vietnam
Participants a. two (2) teams from each country
b. Each team should consist of three (3) students and one (1) teacher/mentor
    • Selected gifted and talented students should be aged between 13 to 15 years.
    • Teachers should be educators of Science in their respective countries.

B. SELECTION CRITERIA

SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection Criteria for Students The programme targeted to top science students from ASEAN+3 regions.
To ensure that selected students benefit fully from their participation, the science students should:
a. Between 13 and 15 years of age as on January of the contest year;
b. Have experience in science research or competitions;
c. Possess good oral proficiency in English;
d. Be academically able and is among the top 5% of their cohort; and,
e. Be willing to network with fellow students at the JSO.
Selection Criteria for Teachers To ensure that the teachers fully benefit from their participation, the science teachers should be:
• Educators or senior personnel in science in a school or another educational institution;
• Proficient in English;
• Able to share their learning points and experiences to other science teachers; and,
• Able to implement teaching ideas or strategies in school.

C. PROGRAMME

PROGRAMME
Student Programme • Part 1 - Poster presentation A0
  (841 mm or 33.1 inches of width; 1189 mm or 46.8 inches of length).
  Theme: "Application of Renewable Energies for a Better Life"

• Part 2 - Laboratory Skills Assessments
  Three (3) students in one (1) team; made up from the same country

• Part 3 - Presentation of Field Projects
  Per team made up of 6-8 students from different countries

• Overall
  Medals and certificates for all winners
  Certificates for all participants

• Cultural night
  Cultural performance should be prepared by each country.
Teacher Programme Purpose: Build capacities of science educators
The activity : workshop and discussion forum
